The mass production of flat screen TVs is a process that was not possible until just recently even though they have been around for 50 years. This explosion of affordable high quality equipment that has recently become available to the commons consumer has created an expectation of higher quality in general from consumer electronics. Current consumer electronics now have a much more sophisticated bar to meet now that flat screen TVs provide the market with such cost effective and reliable equipment.
