Samsung than Apple’s smartphone to become the world’s largest provider

U.S. market research firm IDC released a report Thursday, Samsung third-quarter smartphone shipments exceeded 20 million mark, reaching 23.6 million, an increase of 223.2%, 20.0% market share, surpassing Apple’s 14.5 % as the world’s largest smartphone manufacturer.

Overall profile

IDC said in a report, although some slowdown in key mature markets, but in the third quarter of the global smart phone still achieved shipments of 118.1 million, compared with last year’s 82.8 million up 42.6%.

It is noteworthy that 42.6% of the 49.1% increase in less than IDC had expected, also lower than the previous quarter’s 66.7% increase. Since the release of Apple’s new iPhone delayed leading smart phone shipments in the third quarter, growth slowed down. Previous years third quarter, shipments are to benefit from the new iPhone boost. Western Europe and the United States to achieve two key areas are still a considerable increase, but the increase was lower than expected. However, the global market continues to achieve double-digit growth, it also highlights the heat of the smart phone market.
